Abstract

Bakalaura darbs “1920-tie gadi un jauna amerikāņu ētosa rašanās” ir pētījums par jauna ētosa rašanos Amerikā 1920-tajos gados. Šis pētījums ir veikts, lai pierādītu hipotēzi, ka 1920-tie gadi ir bijuši ievērojams laiks Amerikas vēsturē, kad mainījusies vērtību sistēma, izraisot daudzas jaunas tendences Amerikas sabiedrībā, kas saistītas ar pasaules uztveri un attieksmi pret dzīvi, kurai tagad bija raksturīga izlaidība, bezrūpība un izlikšanās. Lai pierādītu iepriekšminēto apgalvojumu, šī darba autorei bija nepieciešams izpētīt Amerikas vērtību sistēmas vēsturi, lasīt un analizēt dažādu 1920-to gadu amerikāņu rakstnieku darbus, un sekot tendencēm ne tikai literatūrā, bet arī mūzikā un arhitektūrā. Šī pētījuma rezultātā ir pierādījies, ka 1920-tajos gados Amerika pieredzēja unikālu fenomenu, kas mainīja esošo vērtību sistēmu, iespaidoja visu amerikāņu sabiedrību un atstāja ievērojamas pēdas tās vēsturē.

The bachelor paper “The 1920s and the Emergence of a New American Ethos” is the research of the appearance of a new ethos in America during the 1920s. The following research has been done in order to prove the hypothesis that 1920s were a significant period in the history of America, when the system of values changed, and triggered many new trends in the American society in regard to the perception of the world and the attitude to life that was now characterised by debauchery, carelessness and appearance. In order to prove the above mentioned statement, it was necessary for the author of this paper to study the history of the system of values in America, to read and analyse different works of the American writers of the 1920s, and to follow the trends not only in literature but also in music and architecture. In the result of this research, it has been proved that during the 1920s America experienced a unique phenomenon that changed the existing system of values, affected the entire American society, and left a significant mark in its history.
