Maģistra darbā tiek apskatīta Liepājas apgabaltiesas kā otrās jeb apelācijas instances tiesu iestādes vieta un loma jaunizveidotās tiesu sistēmas darbībā starpkaru periodā. Atbilstoši darba nosaukumam tika noteikts arī darba mērķis – izpētīt Liepājas apgabaltiesas darbību Latvijas Republikas tiesu sistēmā laika posmā no 1918.gada līdz 1940.gadam. Dibinot jaunu valsti, bija nepieciešams radīt jaunu iekārtu, uz kuras darbotos valsts iestādes, tādēļ darba mērķis iezīmē nepieciešamību ieskicēt jauno Latvijas Republikas tiesu sistēmu, iepazīt Liepājas apgabaltiesas rašanās vēsturi un tās struktūru pētāmajā laika hronoloģiskajās robežās, kā arī uzrādīt ar kādām lietu kategorijām saskārās tiesu iestādes darbinieki, pēc kā var izdarīt secinājumus kā Liepājas apgabaltiesa, spriežot tiesu, ir izmantojusi savu tiesu varu. The role of the Liepaja Regional Court as the second or appellate court institution in the functioning of the newly established judicial system in the interwar period is discussed in the Master's thesis. According to the title of the work, the aim of the work was also to investigate the activities of the Liepaja Regional Court in the judicial system of the Republic of Latvia during the years between 1918 and 1940. When establishing a new country, it was necessary to create a new facility, which would be operated by state institutions, therefore the aim of the work marks the necessity to sketch out the new court system of the Republic of Latvia, to get acquainted with the history of the Liepaja Regional Court and its structure within the investigated chronological boundaries, as well as to present the categories of cases faced by the the staff of the institution, after which it’s possible to draw conclusions, how Liepaja Regional Court has used its judicial power.
