The astronomical tower on the roof of the main building of the University of Latvia has been serving as a window to space for 150 years. In the 19th century, scientific observations were made here, and in the 20th century, the Heide Telescope installed in the tower was used to train students and demonstrate celestial lights. Demonstrations of the starry sky have been very active since 1986, with three telescopes replaced.
