Zusammenfassung
This paper will look at human rights abuses before and after the presidential elections in Belarus in August 2020, where Alexander Lukashenko sought his 6th term in office. Moreover, it will be researched how these violations can be resolved through international human rights mechanisms, especially the United Nations human rights tools for protecting, preserving human rights, and providing legal remedies in case of violations. As well, will be researched statements of the European Union, Organization of the Security and Cooperation in Europe, and European countries on the situation in Belarusian elections and human rights violations. Additionally, European Union had announced sanctions for those who are responsible for human rights abuses in Belarus that will be also researched.
