Hollandiešu aizguvumi latviešu valodā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā apskatīti iespējamie holandiešu aizguvumi latviešu valodā. Kā pamatavots izmantota K. Karuļa “Latviešu etimoloģijas vārdnīca”, kurā no aptuveni 300 viduslejasvācu izcelsmes vārdiem 6 ir primāri uzrādīti kā holandiešu vai frīzu izcelsmes. Aizgūšanas process tiek skatīts, salīdzinot dažādas reģionālās etimoloģijas vārdnīcas – par lietuviešu, igauņu, vidusholandiešu, viduslejasvācu un vācu valodu vārdu izcelsmi. Kā teorētiskais pamats tiek izmantota Uriela Veinreiha monogrāfija “Languages in Contact” un tajā apskatītie aizgūšanas un interferences mehānismi. Tā kā lielākā daļa vārdu latviešu valodā, visticamāk, aizgūti vēlajos viduslaikos un laika periodā līdz 17. gadsimtam, darbā arī iekļauts īss ekskurss vēsturiskajā kontekstā, ar uzsvaru uz to ietekmi uz valodu kontaktiem. Papildus nodaļa tiek veltīta viduslejasvācu un vidusholandiešu valodu ģenētiskajai un vēsturiskajai līdzībai, lai labāk spētu iezīmēt šo abu valodu mijiedarbību ne tikai Latvijas un Livonijas kontekstā, bet arī kā vispārēju valodniecisku problemātiku.

This Bachelor’s thesis looks at possible Dutch loan words in the Latvian language. The Latvian etymological Dictionary (Latviešu etimoloģijas vārdnīca) is used as the main source, since therein among 300 words of Middle Low German origin 6 are identified as coming from Dutch or Frisian. The process of borrowing is investigated with the help of various regional etymological dictionaries – concerning the origin of Lithuanian, Estonian, Middle Dutch, Middle Low German, and German words. As a theoretical foundation the monography “Languages in Contact” by Uriel Weinreich and the mechanics of borrowing and interference described within is used. Since most likely the largest part of these words has entered the Latvian language around late Middle Age or during the time period up to the 17th century, a short excurse into the historical context is included, with a focus on its influence on the language contacts. Additionally, a chapter on the historical and genealogical similarities between Middle Low German and Middle Dutch is included, to better show the interaction of these two languages not only in Latvia and Livonia, but also a general linguistic problem.
