Latvijas-Lietuvas pierobežas iedzīvotāju dzīve pierobežas telpā

Abstract

Latvijas-Lietuvas pierobežas iedzīvotāji robežu izmanto un uztver dažādos veidos, par spīti tam, ka viena no robežu pamatfunkcijām ir nošķirt valstis un to teritorijas. Intervējot pierobežas iedzīvotājus, kā arī veicot kontentanalīzi publikācijām par dažādiem sadarbības projektiem, kuros iesaistīti abu valstu iedzīvotāji, tiek noskaidrots, kāda ir robežas ietekme uz šo iedzīvotāju ikdienas dzīvi, kādas aktivitātes veido robežu un kas vieno iedzīvotājus robežas abās pusēs. Iegūtie dati norāda, ka iespēja brīvi šķērsot robežu ļauj izmantot pieejamos resursus abās valstīs, gūt abpusēju labumu no dažādām sadarbībām un iedzīvotājiem veidot robežu un pierobežu tā, lai viņi justos droši un komfortabli. Robežu nozīmi var mainīt paši iedzīvotāji, pārrobežu attiecībām pielāgojoties attiecīgā brīža situācijai un tās apstākļiem.

Inhabitants of the Latvian-Lithuanian borderland use and perceive the border in various ways despite that one of the basic function of borders is to separate countries and their territories. By interviewing borderland inhabitants and doing a content analysis of publications about various cooperation projects, in which inhabitants of both countries are involved, the impact of the border on the everyday lives of these inhabitants, what kind of activities create the border and what unites the inhabitants on both sides of the border is discovered. The gathered data shows that the opportunity to freely travel across the border gives the chance to use the available resources in both countries, to gain a mutual benefit from various cooperations and lets the inhabitants create the border and borderland in such a way that they feel safe and comfortable. The inhabitants themselves can change the meaning of the border as the cross-border relations adjust to the situation and circumstances of that exact moment.
