Semantiskais eksternālisms Patnema un vēlīnā Vitgenšteina filozofijā

Abstract

Darba mērķis ir kritiski analizēt Hilarija Patnema semantiskā eksternālisma filozofiju, salīdzinot to ar vēlīnā Ludviga Vitgenšteina idejām. Pētījuma autore galvenokārt pievērsīsies H. Patnema rakstam “The Meaning of “Meaning”” (1975) un L. Vitgenšteina darbam “Filosofiskie pētījumi” (1953), kuros kritizēta internālisma teorija, vienlaikus aprakstot idejas, kas mūsdienu valodas filozofijā pazīstamas kā semantiskais eksternālisms. H. Patnems savā rakstā nav atsaucies uz L. Vitgenšteinu, taču abi filozofi apraksta vārda nozīmes kā eksternālas, tādējādi radot jautājumu: vai Patnema valodas filozofija mijiedarbojas ar vēlīnā Vitgenšteina valodas filozofijas idejām? Šajā darbā tiks apskatīti abu filozofu ideju mijiedarbības pozitīvie un negatīvie aspekti, rezultātā kritizējot sākotnējo Patnema semantiskā eksternālisma teoriju.

The aim of the paper is to critically analyze Hilary Putnam's philosophy of semantic externalism, comparing it with the ideas of the late Ludwig Wittgenstein. The author of the research will mainly focus on H. Putnam's article "The Meaning of "Meaning"" (1975) and L. Wittgenstein's work "Philosophical Investigations" (1953), both of which criticize the theory of internalism, while describing the ideas that are known as semantic externalism. H. Putnam did not refer to L. Wittgenstein in his article, but both philosophers describe word meanings as external, thus raising the question: does Patnam's philosophy of language interact with the ideas of late Wittgenstein's philosophy of language? This work will examine the positive and negative aspects of the interaction of the two philosophers' ideas, in the end criticizing Putnam’s early theory of semantic externalism.
