dc.description.abstract | The bachelor’s thesis researches the role of passions in self-becoming. Passions are examined through the lens of lived-body phenomenology, focusing on the work of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Bernhard Waldenfels. Defining selfhood as processual and exposing the dynamic character of self-becoming, the objective of the work is to define the handling of passions as central to the dynamic and creative formation of selfhood, addressing the ontological and ethical considerations of embodied passions. By the concept of passion as a striving towards the world, they are postulated as necessary for the realization of creativity and spontaneity. Passions disrupt the network of habit and care, thereby advancing the process of becoming and relating to self-care. In the context of exploring the issue of passions in the problematic of authentic and produced desires, the understanding of conviviality by Ivan Illich is offered as a social framework with the potential to promote self-care in relation to the passions.
