This research is a quantitative survey conducted to identify “Factors affecting the employee motive towards reporting aviation safety concerns” at ABC Airlines aircraft maintenance division. An extensive literature review was carried out in order to identify the key factors which influence individuals’ intention to report aviation safety occurrences. It was observed that there is scarce literature about this specific topic; thus, the time horizon of the literature review had to be extended more into the past in order to obtain sufficient literature. The literature review identified several factors, but the author deliberately selected four main factors due to limitations of time and other recourses. The following were the selected factors from the literature review: “Employee confidence”, “User awareness”, “Work culture and ethics” and “User approachability of the reporting system”. These factors were selected to formulate conceptual framework followed by identification of delimitations, limitations, and barriers. The research methodology utilised the survey method. The methodology was aided by the use of a Questionnaire circulated among the line maintenance certifying staff of ABC Airlines aircraft maintenance division. IBM SPSS statics version 21 software was used to analyse the data. The data analysis results constructed the conclusions which confirmed the relationship to the factors identified by the literature review. The researcher then provided the recommendations based on the conclusions in order to address the issues with an objective to enhance the levels of safety occurrence reporting at ABC Airlines aircraft maintenance division.
