Fizioterapijas terminoloģijas angļu valodā mācīšana/ mācīšanās augstskolā

Abstract

Mācību grāmatas, kas tiek lietotas mācību kursā „Medicīnas terminoloģija angļu valodā”, kas ir obligātais mācību priekšmets bakalaura studiju programmā fizioterapijā, ir veidotas uz angļu valodas kursa ārstiem pamatiem. Tāpēc angļu valodas skolotājai ir nepieciešams pielāgot esošos mācību materiālus un veidot papildu mācību materiālus. Fizioterapeitiem ir nepieciešams zināt fizioterapijas terminoloģiju angļu valodā, lai viņi būtu spējīgi lasīt tekstus savā specialitātē. Tādējādi šī pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt vārdu krājuma angļu valodas speciāliem mērķiem mācīšanas un mācīšanās veidus, lai izstrādātu papildus uzdevumu kopu, lai sekmīgāk mācītos fizioterapijas terminoloģiju. Kā pētniecības metode tika sagatavotas un administrētas divas dažāda veida anketas angļu valodas skolotājiem, kas māca angļu valodu fizioterapeitiem, un topošajiem fizioterapeitiem, kas tika izvēlēti no populācijas kopas. Tika secināts, ka papildu materiālu kopai fizioterapijas terminoloģijas mācīšanai ir jābūt koncentrētai uz mācību tēmām, kas ir vērstas uz fizioterapijas tehnikām, pielietojot uzdevumus, kuros izmanto vizuālos elementus, vārdu savietošanas uzdevumus un tukšo vietu aizpildīšanas uzdevumus. Pētījuma rezultātā tika izstrādāta papildu materiālu kopa fizioterapijas terminoloģijas mācīšanai.

The course books used in the course “English Medical Terminology”, which is a compulsory course within the Bachelor study programme in physiotherapy, are developed on the basis of the English course for doctors. Hence the English language teacher has to adapt the teaching materials from existing ones and has to design supplementary teaching materials. Physiotherapists need to know the physiotherapy terminology in English in order to be able to read texts in their subject specialism. Therefore the goal of this research is to investigate ways of teaching and learning English for Specific Purposes vocabulary in order to develop a supplementary set of tasks for more successful learning physiotherapy terminology. As a research method two different questionnaires for the English language teachers, who teach the English language for physiotherapists, and for physiotherapists trainees selected from the population were prepared and administered. It was concluded that the supplementary set of materials for teaching and learning physiotherapy terminology should be focused on teaching topics related to physiotherapy treatment techniques and using tasks with visual images, matching words tasks, and gap-fill tasks. As a result of this research, the supplementary set of materials for teaching and learning physiotherapy terminology was designed.
