Zusammenfassung
Currently, most transactions are concluded electronically, however regulations in Latvia only provide specific requirements for an electronic document to be recognized executed in written form, therefore, general requirements for lawful transactions are the ultimate requirements for concluding electronic transactions. Thus, a significant issue in Latvia is contrasting comprehension regarding validity requirement of electronic transactions. The aim of this thesis is to explore by doctrinal and analytical legal research methods the general and specific requirements for electronic transactions in Latvia. The results of this thesis indicate that so far, there is neither established case law, nor clear normative regulation regarding special requirements for electronic transactions. The author suggests amending the Latvian law allowing the conclusion of lawful transaction in the combination of written and electronic forms.
