Abstract
The 2020 U.S. presidential election brought to light the rising impact of social media platforms on election outcomes. This study investigates how candidates used social media during the campaign and whether limiting free speech on these platforms helped Joe Biden win. It also examines current laws about freedom of speech and social media, finding gaps and limits. Finally, this research proposes possible legal solutions to make social media platforms accountable for unlawful content posted and protect our right to free expression online. By analyzing social media's role, evaluating current laws, and assessing solutions, this paper gives an objective but enthusiastic look at social media's impact and possible remedies to protect free speech rights on the internet.
