Š. Brontē romāna “Džeina Eira” postkoloniāls lasījums Dž. Rīsas romānā “Plašā Sargasu jūra”

Abstract

Postkoloniālā kritika ir aktuāla tēma literatūras pētniecībā. Postkoloniālisma jautājumi ir pamanāmi gan Šarlotes Brontē romānā “Džeina Eira”, gan Džīnas Rīsas “Plašā Sargasu jūra”. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kā postkoloniālisma jautājumi par ekspluatāciju un identitāti ir attēloti abos romānos, un salīdzināt tos, lai noskaidrotu, kā koloniālā ideoloģija “Džeinā Eirā” tiek apšaubīta “Plašā Sargasu jūrā”. Izmantotās pētniecības metodes ir teksta analīze, salīdzinājums un interpretācija. Tiek secināts, ka “Plašā Sargasu jūra” apšauba “Džeinas Eiras” koloniālo ideoloģiju, dodot balsi kolonizētajam tēlam un izpētot koloniālisma ietekmi uz personu, kura dzīvo koloniālā sabiedrībā.

Postcolonial criticism is a relevant topic in literary research. The issues of postcolonialism are prevalent in Charlotte Brontë’s novel Jane Eyre and Jean Rhys’s postcolonial response Wide Sargasso Sea. This bachelor’s thesis aims to explore how the postcolonial issues of exploitation and identity are represented in both novels and to compare them to find out how the colonial ideology in Jane Eyre is challenged in Wide Sargasso Sea. The research methods used are text analysis, comparison, and interpretation. It is concluded that Wide Sargasso Sea challenges the colonial ideology of Jane Eyre by giving a voice to the colonial Other and by exploring the impact of colonialism on a person living in a colonial society.
