Divkāršais noliegums kā tulkošanas stratēģija, tulkojot no angļu valodas latviešu valodā

Abstract

Maģistra darbā aplūkota divkāršā nolieguma tulkošana no angļu valodas latviešu valodā kā šim valodu pārim raksturīga tulkošanas situācija. Apkopotas galvenās pētniecībā izteiktās atziņas par noliegumu latviešu un angļu valodā un jo īpaši par divkāršā nolieguma un tā terminoloģiskā ekvivalenta, nolieguma saskaņojuma, gramatisko raksturojumu. Iegūtie secinājumi tiek izmantoti, lai vērtētu divkāršo noliegumu plašāk pazīstamo bezizvēles tulkošanas stratēģiju kontekstā un, balstoties piemēru korpusā, piedāvātu divkāršā nolieguma tulkošanas specifikai atbilstošās stratēģijas.

This master’s thesis focuses on repeated negation as the situation typical to translations from English into Latvian. The author summarises the most pertinent opinions made by the negation researchers regarding negation in Latvian and English and in particular those related to the grammatical characteristics of repeated negation and its terminological equivalent negative concord. The resulting conclusions are used to analyse repeated negation in the context of the commonly known translation servitudes and to propose the translation strategies that are found relevant to the specific nature of this phenomena, based on the corpus of excerpts.
