Starptautiskās situācijas atspoguļojums Latvijas sūtniecības Londonā ziņojumos, 1939. gada septembris – decembris

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tika pētīts starptautiskās situācijas atspoguļojums Latvijas sūtniecības Londonā ziņojumos no 1939. gada septembra līdz 1939. gada decembrim. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt Latvijas sūtniecības Londonā diplomātiskā korpusa darbinieku veikto starptautisko un iekšpolitikas notikumu atspoguļojumu Otrā pasaules kara sākumā, laika posmā no 1939. gada septembra līdz 1939. gada decembrim, pastiprināti pievēršot uzmanību Latvijas attiecībām ar Lielbritāniju, politiskajiem un ekonomiskajiem jautājumiem konflikta sākumā. Lai precīzāk izprastu nozīmi un cēloņus ziņojumos atspoguļotajai informācijai, kas galvenokārt bija saistīta ar Latvijas sūtņa Lielbritānijā Kārļa Zariņa mēģinājumiem aizstāvēt Latvijas ekonomiskās intereses Lielbritānijā, kā arī viņa centieniem izskaidrot Latvijas politisko stāvokli pēc 1939. gada oktobra, ir padziļināti izpētītas Latvijas un Lielbritānijas attiecības un abu valstu ārpolitika pirms bakalaura darba hronoloģiskajām robežām.

This bachelor’s thesis studies the reflection of the international situation in the reports of the Latvian legation in London during the period from September 1939 to December 1939. The objective of this study is to investigate how the diplomatic corps of the Latvian legation in London assessed and reported on the international and domestic political events at the beginning of the Second World War, in the period from September 1939 to December 1939, with particular attention to Latvia's relations with Great Britain and the political and economic issues at the start of the conflict. In order to more precisely understand the meaning and causes behind the information presented in the reports, which were mainly related to the attempts of Kārlis Zariņš (also known as Charles Zarine), the Latvian envoy to Great Britain, to defend Latvia’s economic interests in Great Britain as well as his efforts to explain Latvia’s political situation after October 1939, the relations between Latvia and Great Britain and the foreign policy of both countries were more deeply studied before the chronological limits of the bachelor’s thesis.
